This page will give you information about how we use the personal data and information that you provide to us during your interactions with us by phone, email and the use of our website.

 

Your Information and Why We Process It

When you enquire by telephone we will take your name, telephone number and a postcode (we do not use postcode software) in order to be able to assess whether we can deliver to your area. (Not all postcodes are delivered to Free of charge) We may take your email address in order to be able to send you a quote for the items you are enquiring about.

 

When you place an order with us we will ask for your name, address, telephone number in order to be able to fulfil a contract between us.

We only collect, keep, use or share your information for genuine business purposes, when you’ve approved us to do so, or when we’re obliged to legally. There are a few reasons why we use your personal details:

 

  1. if you contact us with an enquiry either by telephone or email

  2. to process any order that you place on our website and arrange for its execution

  3. to enable more personalised use of our website giving you the customer a better service. We store your data locally on your device in various file formats including cookies

  4. if you have purchased a product from us we may contact you from time to time via email or telephone regarding our latest promotional offers, products and services that we think you may be interested in;

  5. we use your data to remind you when your manufacturer’s warranty is about to expire so we can offer you continued peace of mind .

Appliance World must have a legal basis for processing your data and new Data Protection Legislation sets out what these bases are. These are as follows:-

Contractual

When you purchase a product from our website or over the phone we need your personal data to be able to fulfil our contract with you.

In the interest of your safety - Legal

When manufacturers have a product recall we may process your data to ensure any modifications can be carried out on products you have purchased from us.

 




When You Contact Us

If you get in touch by email to ask a question about your order or our services, we’ll keep a record of your emails and our responses. This helps us to resolve any problems, and to answer your query quickly and easily if you need to get in touch again.

Why and when would we share your information ?

  • where we’re obliged to do so (for example a legal request),

  • when we need to work with a third party or core service provider, for example a delivery service or Manufacturers service agents. Each provider is carefully selected, and we’d only pass on the information required for them to perform that service on our behalf; they cannot use your data for any other purpose e.g. their own marketing purposes;

  • with our insurance brokers or insurers for claims (or potential claims) purposes;

  • when you purchase an extended warranty your information is passed to UK Warranty

We sometimes share anonymised information and analytics with third parties but not in a way that they could identify you as an individual.

Payment

We only take orders using Secure Socket layer technology so your connection is secure at all times.

We’re constantly monitoring and testing our IT systems and using the latest technology to identify potential vulnerabilities and attacks to provide a safe and secure shopping environment.

Our checkout uses Verified by Visa, Mastercard SecureCard and American Express Safekey, which safeguards you from potential fraud.

We use third party payment service providers which are integrated into our website. When you pay using one of these methods e.g. PayPal, you may be redirected to the provider’s portal. Your use of these services are subject to the terms and conditions (and privacy policies) of the payment providers.

 

How Long Do We Keep Your Information?

We will only keep your personal data for as long as it remains necessary in line with the reason that we collected it from you and to meet any legal requirements We retain your personal data relating to the purchase of your products for a period of 7 years after your purchase. This is in line with certain product liability provisions under the Consumer Protection Act 1987.

 

Your Rights

You have the right to control how your data is used by companies you chose to deal with .

  • You have the right to correct any incorrect data held

  • You have the right to tell us to stop using your personal data for the purpose of sending you direct marketing;

  • You have the right to ask us to erase your personal data where the personal data is no longer necessary for the purpose for which it is collected. The right to erasure is not an absolute right.

  • You have the right to ask for an individual to review any decision made using an automated process.
